Job Description

The primary role of the Business Development Executive is a person who is responsible for

the growth of the business. The core responsibility is to find new targets and leads to promote

the sales and services of the organization. You should bring new business prospects by

networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential

clients. You must develop a rapport with new clients and provide support that will continually

improve the relationship. You are also required to strategically plan and retain existing clients

by presenting new solutions and services.

You will be a part of an established Consulting company which is trying to widen its services

beyond its core. Hence, knowledge about new trends and opportunities in engineering and

beyond will be helpful in creating new streams of business opportunities.

The main duties of the Business Development Executive can be summarized as follows:

Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients and new opportunities and turn this into increased

business.

  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust

pipeline of opportunities.

  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships in new and emerging sectors by creating needed

partnership and identifying new clients needing those services beyond the core

services being offered by the company.

  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and companys practice leaders/

Principals.

  • Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the clients needs, concerns and

objectives.

  • Participate in pricing the solution/ service, including agreeing pricing and execution

strategy with teams to ensure profitability on execution.

  • Deal with objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through

differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate

appropriately.

  • Present an image that provides compelling message to the client.

Client Retention

  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
  • Generate leads from existing clients and new leads from open market.

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide

feedback and information on market and creative trends.

  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with

a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.

  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead

to an increase in business.

  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s

unique selling propositions and differentiators.
